2nd Annual ARIZONA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS

April 13, AZBC, Mesa...

The annual Arizona Badminton Championships places the top Arizona badminton players in the record book. This year we saw many new champions receive plaques and have their name etched on the perpetual trophy on display in the AZBC lobby.

Two players were double winners: Kai-Ning Khor won the OWD with Vaishnavi Koka and the OMX with Bui Hoang; and Hong Hu won the OMS and the OMD with Guy Chadwick. In the OWS, Monica Xiong edged Vaishnavi Koka in a hard fought final, 21-15, 23-21.

One particularly exciting match was a first-round OMS match between Seigo Hashimoto and Anton Kentjana, with Seigo winning 23-21, 26-24! Although there were several close matches, there were actually no 3-game matches in four of the events-- OWS, OMS, OWD and OMD, except in consolation. The OMX was a different story, with more than half of the matches going 3-games, including the finals. Here are the final results:
