2022 AZBC SMASH BASH

The 30th Annual Smash Bash brought 75 competitors into 8 doubles events, including Kids, High School (Girls & Boys), Collegiate (Women & Men), Open and Senior (Men). As always, there were lots of hard-fought matches highlighted by the Collegiate Women's Doubles final with Kate Macpherson and Ashley Rodarte of Arizona Christian University defeating Sue Kwon and Jessica Read of the University of Arizona, 23-21, 18-21, 21-18. The Open Women Doubles also went three, with Neha and Saba Shakir revenging an earlier Collegiate Women Doubles semi-final loss to Kate and Ashley, this time winning 10-21, 21-10, 21-14. The Open Men Doubles also featured 3-game matches in both semis and the finals, with Frank Xu and Jimmy Yao surviving against Anthony Phillips and Ricky Pan, 11-21, 21-19, 21-12 in the championship match.

KIDS DOUBLES: Divyam Gupta/Shreya Deshpande won in a round robin format beating Arjun Raman/Shrihan Soni and Javier Hansen/Alex Ji

HS GIRLS DOUBLES: Tricia DeSpain/Jordyn Mee def. Merilyn Li/Shreya Deshpande, 24-22, 21-17

HS BOYS DOUBLES: Karthik Raman/Athish Mahesh def. Arya Bhat/Shaayaan Soni, 21-9, 23-21

COLLEGIATE WOMEN DOUBLES: Kate Macpherson/Ashley Rodarte (ACU) def. Sue Kwon/Jessica Read (UofA), 23-21, 18-21, 21-18

COLLEGIATE MEN DOUBLES: Dylan Abidin/Chen He (ASU) def. YuanJea Hew/Frank Xu (UofA), 21-11, 21-15

OPEN WOMEN DOUBLES: Neha Shakir/Saba Shakir def. Kate Macpherson/Ashley Rodarte, 10-21, 21-10, 21-14
