2022 JIM POOLE CLASSIC TOURNAMENT

Celebrating AZBC's 10th Anniversary with our annual Jim Poole Classic badminton tournament... Jim Poole passed away this past November at the age of 89. He had retired to Arizona after one of the most decorated careers in US Badminton history. He earned more than 60 national titles in open and senior events, numerous international wins, and was part of several US Thomas Cup teams. He was an honorary member of the AZBC providing extensive coaching expertise for all ages.

This year's tournament showcased 80 participants and nearly 200 matches in Kids, Collegiate, Open and Senior events in two full days of action. The Sunday play of semi-finals and finals saw a ridiculous 17 tough 3-game matches being played! There were several multiple event champions, including Nihira Sane earning the Kids Singles and Doubles titles, Neha Shakir winning the Collegiate and Open Women Singles, Anthony Phillips winning the Open Men Singles and Open Mixed Doubles, Yuni Yeoh winning the Open Women Doubles and Open Mixed Doubles, Karina Defago winning the Senior Women Doubles and Senior Mixed Doubles, and Aaron Schneider winning the Senior Men Singles and Senior Mixed Doubles.
