2020 JIM POOLE BADMINTON CLASSIC

The 8th Annual JIM POOLE CLASSIC featured Singles, Doubles and Mixed events in the Open, Collegiate and Senior categories. All the singles matches were 1-gamers, which allowed enough time for full matches for all the doubles and mixed doubles events. Even so, the competition started at 9am and went well into the evening. Tucson badminton made a strong showing in the Open and Collegiate events led by YuanJea of the University of Arizona. YuanJea won both the Collegiate and Open Men's Singles and Collegiate and Open Men's Doubles with partner Frank Xu!

UofA dominated the overall collegiate team standings with 24 points, while Benedictine University finished 2nd with 14 pts and Northern Arizona University finished 3rd with 11 1/2 pts. The Collegiate Women's Singles was won by Gabrielle Nakada (of ASU), who also won the Collegiate Women Doubles. The Collegiate Mixed Doubles was won by Caleb Doo (Embry-Riddle) partnering with Jessica Boofer (Benedictine). In all, pllayers from ASU-Tempe, ASU-West, Benedictine, Embry-Riddle of Prescott, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona competed in the collegiate division.

In the other divisions, Alexis Mee took the Open Women Singles title and Open Women Doubles title with her sister, Jordyn. Ben Wang and his wife, Yi Zhang, took the Open Mixed title. In the Senior divisions, Aaron Schneider won the Sr Men's Singles, and Naren Koka and Shash Patel won the Sr Men's Doubles.
