2020 AZBC ARIZONA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS

Like all of us during this unprecedented year, the 9th Annual AZBC ARIZONA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS, normally scheduled in April, suffered delays, inconveniences, and much more, but were finally rewarded with play in December! We also cut way down on the events and the draws with only Open divisions operated. Sometimes, quality trumps quantity, and this was definitely the case this year. Very hard fought, quality matches in all 5 events resulted in true champions deserving of their titles! More than half of the matches went 3 games, particularly in all the doubles events.

Open Women Singles: Hitomi Sato defeated Yuni Yeoh; 21-8, 21-16

Open Men Singles: Anthony Phillips defeated Michael Liang; 21-5, 21-17

Open Women Doubles: Mai Le and Hitomi Sato defeated Siwei Yan and Yuni Yeoh; 18-21, 21-19, 21-14

Open Men Doubles: Guy Chadwick and Anthony Phillips defeated Chinmai Basavaraj and Yuanjea Hew; 21-19, 21-14

Open Mixed Doubles: Chinmai Basavaraj and Yuni Yeoh defeated Avinash Pallagani and Hitomi Sato; 17-21, 21-17, 21-19
