2017 AZBC SMASH BASH DOUBLES

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the SMASH BASH was a blast with jam-packed action from start to finish. Lots of great matches, upsets and new winners and big smiles as displayed by Doug Towne and Marsha Morris to the left (photo courtesy of Doug Towne).

Ten events were played: JV and Varsity Girls Doubles, HS Boys Doubles, Open Women and Men Doubles, B Men Doubles, Senior Men Doubles, and Open and Senior Mixed Doubles along with consolation for these events. Connie Devenport and Gabrielle Nakada won the Varsity Girls Doubles, while Connie teamed with Jordyn Mee for the JV Girls title. Shakir Dixon and Harry Saez won the HS Boys Doubles in a 3-game thriller. Wey Lin Lee and Marsha Morris pulled a big upset to win the Open Women Doubles final in 3 games. Sumit Arora and Rick Nguyen won the Open Men Doubles. Cameron Ohoro and DJ Peters won the B Men Doubles. Ramesh Bondalapati and Eric Cai from Tucson won the Senior Men Doubles. Mitch Nase and Alexis Mee teamed to win the Open Mixed Doubles in yet another close 3-game final match. Finally, Ramesh and Sherry Yuan won the Senior Mixed Doubles.
